Eagles take out the Tigers for second year in a row

After ending Bremond’s 49-game winning streak last season, the Milano Eagles defeated the Tigers again 25-22 in Bremond. The Eagles forced five fumbles and ran for 174 yards. “We played pretty good offense,” said Chad Lagrone, Milano High School head football coach.

Jones, Koenig win in Jarrell

Two Milano runners won first place in their respective divisions on Saturday, Sept. 15, in Jarrell. In the varsity boy’s race, senior Parker Jones lead the pack with a time of 15:50.

Lady Eagles improve to 3-1 in district

The Lady Eagles improved their district record to 3-1 on Saturday, Sept. 15, beating the Mumford Lady Mustangs 25-15, 23-25, 25-9, 25-15 in Milano. The Eagles played a great third set after losing the second set 23-25 and were lead at the net by the Robertson sisters.

Masons to host RHS team dinner

RHS football team members will be honored with a dinner hosted by the Masonic Lodge 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26 at the Patterson Community Center.

Game wardens in Brazoria County investigated an Operation Game Thief crimestoppers call in July about people stockpiling king mackerel over the daily bag/possession limit. The tipster said a group was stockpiling king mackerel in a boat storage facility in Freeport.

Tigers notch first win

The Tigers got off to a fast start in their first win of the 2018 season, 35-10 over Caldwell on Friday, Sept. 7 at Hornet Stadium. “Our kids played well, especially after last week’s loss, I was proud of their maturity,” said Jeff Miller, Rockdale High School Head Football Coach.

Lady Tigers beat Franklin in district opener at home

The Rockdale Lady Tigers volleyball team took down the Franklin Lady Lions in their district opener, 26-24, 25-16, 18-25, 25-20 at home on Friday, Sept. 7. “I’m very excited that we opened with a win for district,” said Jennifer Keen, Rockdale High School head volleyball coach.

Mitchell bucks up to 60th in PBR

Ezekiel Mitchell, formerly of Rockdale, won the Ninth Annual Fredericksburg Professional Bull Riding Touring Pro Division event, which brought his national ranking up to 60 from 80th place. “This was great, but it doesn’t compare to last year,” Mitchell said.
