Tigers 6th at state golf tournament

AUSTIN—Despite all five golfers lowering their scores and slicing 22 strokes off its first round scorecard, it wasn’t enough for the Rockdale Tigers to move into medal contention. The Tigers finished sixth at the 74th Class 3A UIL state golf tournament Tuesday at Grey Rock Golf Club.

Milano Strikes Gold

STATE TRACK 2018 AUSTIN—Heading into the final event of the evening, Milano was trailing Valley View by a couple of points in the race for the team championship. Since Valley View did not have a horse in the 1,600-meter relay, all the Eagles needed to do was finish fifth to grab the gold.

Lehmkuhl just misses out on discus medal

FRANKLIN—The No. 1 Thorndale Bulldogs took the next step towards a state tournament appearance, sweeping out Iola. The Bulldogs finished off Iola Saturday afternoon 4-2 to advance to the Class 2A Region IV quarterfinals against Evadale.
