Tigers holding onto hoop hopes

As the second half of league play hits the midway point, the Rockdale Tigers are running out of time if they hope to secure a state playoff spot. The Tigers were tripped up by Franklin 66-52 Tuesday night on the road to slip to 9-17 overall and 3-7 in District 20-3A.

King lost for the season, career over

The Rockdale Lady Tigers’ playoff possibilities took a major hit as it was revealed that star Frances King is out for the season. King broke a small bone on the side of her left foot Jan. 12 in the Lady Tigers’ victory over Franklin.

No. 1 on the run

THORNDALE—Should anyone need any proof of how good Thorndale really is, District 25-2A teams would be happy to testify. The No. 1 ranked Bulldogs have been ravishing league opponents by the margin of 35.5 points and are averaging 90.5 points an outing.

Lady Tigers bounce back

The Rockdale Lady Tigers stay near the top of the state rankings was a short one. After skyrocketing to No. 2 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association poll, the Lady Tigers were bested by Franklin 68-59 Friday night at Tiger Gymnasium.

A win for the family called Rockdale

Jeff Miller almost lost it for a split second. No, not the state championship football game. That was never going to happen Thursday. Miller’s Tigers had roared by Brock, 45-29, like a gear-jamming 18-wheeler on the Tom Landry Freeway outside Arlington’s AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
