CASES HIT 40

JUDGE: "Surge due to opening things back up"

Milam County Judge Steve Young said Thursday morning there is a 40th case of COVID-19 in Milam County.

"Yesterday evening we learned of our 40th case, a person from the eastern part of the county who tested positive.  We think the infection may have taken place out of county.  The person is at home and will self quarantine," he said.

"This brings us to nine active cases in the county.  The Health Department is monitoring over 30 people, none in the hospital and there has been one death," he said

"We have six new cases so far this week.  My guess is that this is due to opening things back up and Memorial Day," he said.
