Students at Rockdale Junior High returned from winter break to an exciting surprise: the grand opening of their brand-new cafeteria.

MLK parade January 20th

The annual Martin Luther King Day Parade will be held at 1 p.m. Monday starting at Wolf Park, going down US 79 and ending at Sumuel Park where there will be refreshments of hot dogs and chili dogs and drinks.

The Little River Basin Master Gardener Association has extended the registration date for its 2025 training program to Feb. 1. This course contains the curriculum necessary to become a Master Gardener in Milam County. The t raining program will run from Feb. 5 through mid-May on Wednesdays from 8 a.

St. Paul BBQ fundraiser, auction

St. Paul Lut heran Church and School will hold its annual barbecue dinner and live auction fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 2, at the Thorndale Fireman’s Hall on FM 486 North. The meal will consist of brisket with sauce, noodles, pinto beans, potato salad, pickles, onions and bread.

Idon’t know about y’all, but I thought I was going to die last week with the cold weather. This week I have cold weather food to try to warm us up. This first one is very easy.

Rockdale Police make two felony arrests, one accident reported

Rockdale Police Officers made two felony arrest during the past week including: • Christina Rene Sheppard, 38, Rockdale, was arrested by Ofc. Lentz for theft of property ($2,500 to $30,000), possession of a controlled substance (less than 1 gram), and a bond surrender from Washington County.
