The MDD has been working very hard to activate a property as a new industrial park. This 550-acre tract is at the southeast corner of the Highway 77 and 79 intersection. It is owned by a private company.
A fundraiser for Jaxon Gonzales will be held this Saturday at Walmart from 6 a.m. until sold out. One the menu are breakfast tacos, sausage wraps, desserts, chips, candy, water and sodas.
Jaxon is the son of Julian Gonzales and Emily Garza. He is suffering from stage five renal disease.
Garden Club seeks new members
Linwood Acres Garden Club meets at 10:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at Becky’s Sandwich Shop, 2148 US 77, in Rockdale.
All gardeners are welcome to share ideas and experiences.

Rockdale Police Officers made four felony arrests during the past week including:
• Stacey Hickman, 28, Rockdale, was arrested on a warrant for probation violation, possession of a controlled substance (under 1 gram).

• 1699 Hillcrest Drive for a fire alarm on Sept. 6 at 8:08 a.m. No fire located.
• The 1800 block of FM 2116 for a transformer that blew and caused a fire on Sept. 8 at 2:08 p.m.
• 930 CR 333 along with Milano VFD for a pasture fire on Sept. 9 at 3:36 p.m.
Economic development by itself, does not directly help that many people – only those who can participate in it. However, setting up a system where the City can make more money and reinvest into the community can benefit everybody.
Rockdale needs industrial value on its tax rolls.
