Three Holy Week services planned

The Rockdale Ministerial Alliance wishes to invite the community to three special Holy Week services. On Monday, April 11, at 5:30 p.m. at Rising Star Baptist Church. Pastor Lance Walch will lead the service. Masks may be required.

Meet Miss Honey

Rockdale Intermediate School second- and third-graders were treated to a special visitor last Thursday when Miss Honey, the Jersey milk cow, made a stop in Rockdale to help the students learn all about milk. Southwest Dairy Farmers offers a free program for schools with their Mobile Dairy Classroom.

Mapping technology helps city plan for future

At Monday night’s city council meeting all the details of the sale of the property on FM 487 were nailed down and the plan is moving along as planned. Some new details on what would be required of the buyers were laid out by the council members and MDD Economic Director Jim Gibson.

HOLY ROLLER—Rockdale traffic came to a standstill on Thursday afternoon about 2 p.m. when a church came through town on its way to a new location. The pews were still inside as it rolled down Cameron Avenue on the back of an 18-wheeler.

Baked good sale Saturday

The Milam County Junior Livestock Show will be holding their baked goods food show at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Youth Exposition Building. Each FFA or 4-H member will have the opportunity to bake a pie, cookies and/ or cake.

CARE PACKAGES—The American Legion Post 358 boxed up packages for active-duty service members from Milam County on Sunday which were packed full of all kinds of goodies for each soldier as part of their new initiative #Post358Cares.

VFD annual fundraiser tickets on sale

The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual fundraiser at the KC Hall on April 23 from 5 p.m. to midnight. A meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. Ticket sales began on Feb. 14 and are $150 per couple.
