I like Jesus and I like Him a lot. Why He wants to hang out with an old, tired, cynical and worn out pastor is hard to understand. Besides the Blonde (aka my wife Jennifer), He is the best friend I’ve got and sometimes He is the only friend I’ve got beside the Blonde.

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open the second and fourth Thursday and Friday of the each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

Thorndale man sentenced to 30 years

  Today in Judge John W. Youngblood’s 20th District Court of Milam County, Patrick Michael Anness, 52, of Thorndale was sentenced to 30 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after pleading guilty to a First-Degree Felony, Sexual Performance by Child Under 14.

Local legend about to hit the big time

Local singer/songwriter Brooke Graham is about to hit the big time and it all comes down to a painting her grandmother painted. Mary Lou Loehr’s parents, Bob and Flo Loehr, were very close friends with Brooke Graham’s grandparents, Jake and Dot Barfield.

MDD accepting bids on industrial property

At Monday night’s Rockdale Municipal Development District’s board meeting it was revealed that everything is in place to offer for sale the industrial property located on at 900 FM 486. A new survey has been done and the minimum asking price for the property will be $1.5 million.

Historical commission to meet

The Milam County Historical Commission will conduct its meeting on Monday, at 10 a.m. at the historic Kay Theatre in Rockdale. The purpose of this commission is to preserve, protect and promote history within the county.

Easter egg hunt and carnival to be held April 15

An Easter egg hunt and carnival will be held on Friday, April 15 at 10 a.m. at Fair Park. In addition to the egg hunt, there will be face painting, carnival games, egg decorating, egg pail decorating, hot dogs and pictures with the Easter Bunny.
