Here’s an easy casserole that’s good for cold weather days. Two things I would do differently than this recipe is to use a bag of baby spinach and add it when the meat is almost done before adding the pasta sauce. And I’d sauté the mushrooms with the onions and sausage. I might also add a can of drained chopped tomatoes.

CROWN GARDEN CLUB—The Crown Garden Club met at the home of Peggy Cooke with Geri Burnett as co-hostess. Members brought soup and sandwiches for the cold weather menu. Mrs. Burnett, historical committee chair of Vision Historic Preservation Foundation, gave a program on the history and plans to revive the former city hall in Downtown Rockdale to its former glory. She showed pictures of the present “before and after” of the building and told of plans for the future of the building.
St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Thorndale will hold its annual BBQ brisket dinner and live auction fundraiser Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Thorndale Fireman’s Hall on North FM 486.
