Blood drive set for September 26

An American Red Cross blood drive is slated for Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Milano Fire Station according to event spokesperson Devin Love. The drive will take place from 9a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For more information, call 979-436-5723.

Pleasant Retreat hosting chili supper Sept. 26th Pleasant Retreat UMC will hold its annual chili supper at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept 26. This will be a drive through event and will last until the chili runs out. The church is located at 825 CR 458 in Thorndale.

Hope you all had a nice Labor Day holiday. Gause ISD students get a holiday on Sept. 28, as teachers will have an in-service day. Then on Oct. 12, another student holiday, as that is another in-service day for teachers. Oct. 30 is an early release.

Easy recipes to warm you

According to the weather app on my phone we are in for at least a week of under 90 degree weather. So, winter, basically. Okay maybe not winter exactly but certainly much nicer weather than what we’ve been having this summer. I’m sure we will all be having a chili meal with saltines at some point.

Stash Your Trash set for Oct. 5th

Rockdale citywide Stash Your Trash program will be Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fair Park on Mill Avenue. The event is for residents of Rockdale only. Residency will be checked by a driver’s license and a water bill.

The Rockdale High School Big Blue Band from Tigerland, under the direction of Adrian Acevedo, performed at halftime during last Friday’s thriller against Lexington. The band will return to the home field this Friday when the Rockdale Tigers take on the undefeated Bellville Brahmas.
