Oliver

Edward Walter “Eddie” Oliver, 61 of Pflugerville, formerly of Dripping Springs, died Monday,July 2, 2018, at St. David’s Hospital in Round Rock.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 6, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor David Skinner of Journey Methodist Church in Kyle officiating. Burial followed at Minerva Cemetery in Minerva.

Mr. Oliver was born Sept. 13, 1956, in Sinton to Edward F. and Lyndia O. (Whisenant) Oliver.

He was a 1974 graduate of Dripping Springs High School.

On June 26, 1982, he married Rosanna Gomez in Rock-dale.

Mr. Oliver recently worked for S&P in courtesy patrol and roadside assistance. He previously worked as a service technician for AT&T, worked in oil and gas exploration, worked at the University of Texas and Dover Elevator.

He was a member of Dripping Springs United Methodist Church, Dripping Springs Masonic Lodge “Rambo #426.”

Mr. Oliver served on the Dripping Springs board of trustees from 2000 to 2006.

While working at the University of Texas, he was a recipient of the U.T. Excellence Award and Ruth Crawford Award.

Mr. Oliver was a Little League and high school baseball umpire, a Little League baseball coach, a master scuba diver and had his private pilot’s license.

He was an avid hunter with bow and rifle and, in 2002, received the Texas Big Game Award for typical white tail 135 1/8 from The Thompson Ranch.

Mr. Oliver was an avid fisherman and pit master, and enjoyed traveling.

He was also a member of Citizens on Patrol for Pflugerville.

Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Alfonso E. Gomez; and stepfather-in-law, Brent E. Caywood.

Survivors are his wife, Rosanna Oliver of Pflugerville; a son, Edward T. Oliver of Austin; a daughter, Lyndia Nichole “Nikki” Farmer and husband Josh of Austin; two brothers, Keith Oliver of San Saba and Darral Oliver of Dripping Springs; his mother-in-law, Teresa Caywood of Minerva; a sister-in-law, Maria Gomez of Minerva; and two brothers-in-law, Alfonso Gomez of El Paso and Jimmy Gomez of Minerva.

Pallbearers were Jim Thompson, Michael Nelson, Edward T. Oliver, Al Gomez, Joshua Farmer and Eddie Ibarra.

Honorary pallbearers were Calvin Whittaker, Tom Vandiever, Jimmy Gomez, Woodie Belle, Don Perryman and Willie Sedgewick.
