Butterworth

Shirley Rae Butterworth, 85, of Rockdale died Monday, June 29, 2020, at the S.P.J.S.T. Nursing Home in Taylor.

In accordance with her wishes, no services are planned.

Mrs. Butterworth was born Feb. 24, 1935, in Crisfield, Maryland, to Ray and Jeanette (Thornton) Hill.

On April 21, 1956, she married her husband, Harry, of 60 years in Conklin, New York. They made New York their home until 1984 when they relocated to Texas.

Mrs. Butterworth enjoyed sewing, gardening, painting, reading, traveling, crossword puzzles, spending time with her grandchildren and taking gambling trips to Louisiana with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond and Donald; her husband, Harry Charles Butterworth; and a son, Larry.

Survivors are a daughter, Linda Jeanne (Lindell) of Colorado; and two sons, Scott Butterworth of Bertram, Steve Butterworth and wife Devona of Thorndale; also, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
