James “Jimmy” Wade Batchelor Sr.

James “Jimmy” Wade Batchelor Sr., 79, of Eupora, Mississippi, left this earthly realm on Jan. 27, 2021, at the S.P.J.S.T. Nursing Home in Taylor.

No funeral services will be held. He will be cremated at Smith-Trevino Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Batchelor was born July 13, 1941, in Ruleville, MS to Olen Crowder Batchelor and Maryetta Jones Batchelor.

He was a 1959 graduate of Eupora High School, as well as Ole Miss University and Mississippi State University.

He also served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Batchelor was a retired Certified Public Accountant. He obtained a CDL and was a truck driver for a time. He also taught typing and accounting in high school.

Mr. Batchelor joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1976. He would often refer to the days before he joined the church as BC, before church.

He firmly believed in serving others and did it every day of his life. He loved sharing the gospel and shared it with everyone he met.

He loved his children and always put them first, no matter what. He had a strong knowledge that families are forever and he knew the importance of genealogy and the saving graces that can come from it.

Mr. Batchelor loved to travel all over the U.S with his children. He loved beekeeping and telling stories of when he was young and time spent with his siblings and good friend, Ralph Bailey, who married his sister, Loudie. He worked with the likes of

He worked with the likes of Howard Hughes and other high profile people. He had many roles in life and was around many people most would call influential, but the most important to him was the role of dad.

We know without a doubt that Jimmy is full of jubilation as he has now joined all those family members and ancestors that went before him. We know families are forever and we will see him again and rejoice. Till we meet again, dad. Mr. Batchelor was preced

Mr. Batchelor was preceded in death by his mother, his father and three siblings—Doris Kelly, Olen Batchelor Jr. and Velma Earleen Martin Scherio.

Survivors are his ex-wife, Sally Olenslager Koebke, who he loved till the end because she is the mother of his children; four children, Rachel Owens, James Wade Batchelor Jr., Meg Harris and Martha Devers; six grandchildren, Olen Batchelor, Maryetta Owens, Isabella Owens, Meglet Harris, Joanna Jeffries and Eric Devers; a great-grandchild, Brady Batchelor; and two sisters, Joan Shelby of Forrest, MS, and Mary Lou Bailey of Eupora, MS.
