George Ray Knight Sr., 71, of Franklin died Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at his home.
Services were held Monday, Aug. 13, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Steve Ferguson officiating. Burial followed at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.
Mr. Knight was born Nov. 17, 1946, in Burleson County to Owen Napoleon and Dorothy Gwendolyn (Foley) Knight.
On Dec. 9, 1974, he married Lynda Jean Kornegay in Cameron.
Mr. Knight worked in the oil fields.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda on Sept. 16, 2006, and his parents.
Survivors are his daughters, Gwen Overturf and husband Tom of Gause, Sharon Knight of Cameron, Tiffanny Benham and husband Richard of Franklin; a son, George Ray Knight Jr. and Doris Taylor of College Station; 13 grandchildren, Waylon Over-turf, Zeke Overturf, Savannah Clark, Jeremiah Ybarra Jr., Madelynn Ybarra, Whitney Buckholt, Randall Buckholt Jr., Kourtni Benham, Kalli Benham, Robert Knight, Katie Knight, Caleb Knight and Chase Knight; two great-grandchildren, Jhase Clay and Skarlette Smith; a brother, Leon Knight and wife Sharon of Gause; his sisters, Jewel Shaw and husband Jim of College Station, Carolyn Brown of Arlington, Dell Thurman and husband Buddy, Nancy Wadlington and husband Larry, Jo Ann Reistino and husband Carl, Mary Honeycutt and husband Steve, Linda Gail Pace and Joe Van Winkle, all of Milano.
Pallbearers were Randall Buckholt Jr., Jeremiah Ybarra, George Robert Knight, Owen Knight, Walter Brown III, Blake Burns, Josh Honeycutt, Tyler Endsley, Larry David Roach and Andrew Thurman.
Honorary pallbearers were Matthew Thurman, Lucas Roach, TJ Roemelin, Rhett Endsley and Clint Popham.
