Waggoner
Wanda Fay (Cox) Waggoner, beloved wife, mothe r, g r a ndmother and great-grandmother, was born on May 2, 1947, in Burnet and passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by her loved ones.
The only daughter of Ross Edward Cox and Juanita Virginia (Glosson) Cox, Wanda was cherished from the very beginning. Her early years were filled with the simple joys of life, spending countless happy hours on the lake and developing a love for painting and drawing.
As the daughter of a man who enjoyed working on and tinkering with vehicles, Wanda developed a lifelong appreciation for hard work and mechanical curiosity while helping her father in the garage.
A woman of deep and enduring faith, Wanda came to know the Lord at a young age while attending Vacation Bible School. She was baptized at First Baptist Church in Taylor.
On May 29, 1964, she was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Waggoner Sr. at First Baptist Church in Taylor. Their marriage was a testament to unwavering love, faith, and commitment, spanning 62 years.
Her faith remained a cornerstone throughout her life. Wanda dedicated many years to Women’s Bible Study and faithfully served wherever needed as a devoted member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. Her fellowship with her sisters in Christ had a profound impact on her life. The ladies in her Bible study group were more than friends—they were family, and she will be deeply missed by each of them.
Wanda possessed a vibrant and creative spirit. She found great fulfillment through painting, crafting beautiful jewelry, and, in later years, creating personalized projects with her Cricut machine.
She also enjoyed golfing and spent many hours alongside Jerry transporting the girls’ golf team to tournaments throughout the area.
Wanda took great pride in her home and especially loved working in her flower gardens. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning “Yard of the Month.”
Above all else, Wanda’s greatest joy was her family. She was the heart of her home, providing a sanctuary of kindness, grace, encouragement and unconditional love. Her family was her greatest blessing and her most treasured accomplishment.
Wanda is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Lee Waggoner Sr. of Rockdale; daughter Rosalynn Monroe and companion Robert Hollas of Rockdale; son Jerry Waggoner Jr. and wife Jocelyn of Kingwood; grandchildren David Monroe Jr. and wife Regan of Loebau, Abigail Waggoner of Kingwood, Alexandra Waggoner of Kingwood; great-granddaughters Rylnn and Rynlee Monroe of Loebau; motherin- law Juanita “Nanny” Waggoner of Holland; and her faithful companion, Allie.
There is no doubt that Wanda is now enjoying the beauty of Heaven and finally witnessing the changing leaves of autumn on the East Coast, a dream she always hoped to fulfill.
