Thorndale’s Lady Dog basketball team opened up play in District 27-2A with a 42-30 road win over Hearne, marking the first time THS has defeated the Lady Eagles since Dec. 17, 2019.

The two teams were neck-and-neck throughout the first half, with the Robertson County squad leading 8-7 at the close of the first quarter and 14-13 at halftime.

Things changed in the third quarter with points from Abby Dickerson, Kyndal Robinson, Makayla Lafferty, Kelsey Kovar and Kinley Meadors to put Thorndale up 28-24.

More of the same occurred in the final quarter with THS outscoring Hearne 14-6.

Dickerson and Lafferty each led Thorndale in scoring with 15 points apiece while Robinson and Bailee Baker each had four points. Meadors scored three points and Kovar ended the evening with one.

THIS WEEK—T h e Lady Dogs hosted Milano Tuesday after press time and head to Holland Friday evening for a 6 p.m. tip off.

BULLDOGS—Nearly 75 miles away from THS in Marble Falls, the Bulldogs lost to Faith Academy 70-62.

THS led early but the Flames picked up the slack in the second and third, outscoring the Bulldogs 42-27 during those two quarters. Dereck Cauble led Thorndale in scoring with 13 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. Other leading scorers for the ‘Dawgs were Dean Johnson and Chance Betak, who each had 11. Branson McCoy scored 10 and Clason Beasley, Kaden Kovar and Blake Roberts each had 6 points.

THIS WEEK—The Bulldogs were off Tuesday but like the girls, travel north to Holland on Friday evening to face the Hornets.
