Last week, numerous Rockdale, Milano and Thorndale High School boys basketball players earned district honors for their play throughout the 2022-23 season.
For RHS, Tiger senior Chris Perez was selected for 19-3A’s second team, while his teammates De’Andre Stephens and Ivan Bonner were honorable mentions.
In 27-2A, Milano’s Jayce Todd was selected by district head coaches as the most valuable player and teammates Gael Alcala and Mykal Hutson were picked for the first team. Ethan Gordon was an honorary first team selection after an injury mid-way through district play cut his season short.
Other district picks for the Eagles were Anthony Valadez, who was voted on to the second team. Academic all-district selections were Todd, Gerald Dykes and Ty Magee.
For the Bulldogs, senior Blake Roberts was named the district’s Offensive Player of the Year, while Clason Beasley and Kaden Kovar were picked for the first team. Second team selections were Luke Merz and Braden Pickel, while Jayden Clawson was the team’s lone honorable mention. Academic all-district picks for the Bulldogs were Merz, Kovar, Clawson, Pickel, Gunner Ferguson and Bryce Dickerson.
G IR L S — M i l a n o ’ s Kadance Koenig was picked for District 27-2A’s first team and Montgomery Popham was selected for the second team. Honorable mentions were Laynie Rose and Peyton Robertson.
Academic all-district selections were Koenig, Popham, Robertson, Lakota Seal, Rayelee Keen and Mallory Miller.
For THS, Abby Dickerson, Kyndal Robinson and Tristyn Buchanan were voted on to the first team. Bailee Baker was also voted on to the first team as an honorary selection. The THS senior and Oklahoma Wesleyan signee was an all-district pick last year and didn’t play this past winter after an injury kept her from playing this year.
Kassidy Eubanks and Morgan Rabel were second team selections as well as being picked for the academic all-district team.
Robinson, Buchanan, Dickerson, Baker and Emilee Northcott were also academic all-district picks.
