100 YEARS AGO…
Burk, 9-year-old son of Luther McDonald of the Sharp community, was instantly killed when he fell from a wagon driven by his father, receiving a crushed skull. Mr. McDonald was driving an empty, wide-tired heavy wagon, with the lad riding in the rear.

Angels unaware in Rockdale
Dear editor, Every day that God gives me I am thankful. As a mortal getting on in age and having lived a full life, I’ve had the thought “What would happen if I had a medical emergency?” Maybe you’ve had that thought as well.
Ispent some time on Friday and Saturday taking pictures at the Apache Pass car show and barbeque cookoff. Since it had rained and I thought it would be muddy, I wore an old pair of shoes in which I nearly lost it in some mud. I just knew I was going down, but somehow I managed not to.
