Salty group meets Monday

Salty Cemetery will hold its annual meeting on Monday, March 3, at the Salty Church Annex. “All persons with loved ones buried in the cemetery are invited to attend,” said spokesperson Dana Caffey.

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

A former Rockdale High School teacher, Shawnee Nicole Despain, 26, who had a child with a 17-yearold student (he was 16 when the affair started) pleaded guilty in November of having an improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

City, school board races set for May 3

Rockdale ISD and Rockdale City Hall have released the races for school board and city council. On the school board, Charles Miles will run unopposed for Place 4. Amy Ogea Casas will have a race for her current Place 3 spot against Quin Kearney.
