HISTORIC DAY

Members of the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department held their first ever push-in ceremony for their new $180,000 brush truck on Saturday at the fire station. A push-in is an historical ceremony that hearkens back to the times when fire trucks were either pulled by people or animals.

MARC set to lose government funds

Rockdale’s Milam Adult Resource Center—better known as the MARC Center which serves many special needs people—is facing a funding crisis.

A LOT OF SPAGHETTI

Rockdale Band Boosters held their annual Spaghetti Dinner on Monday night and it was a huge success. The Rockdale Junior High Commons was packed to the brim with hungry folks, and they raised a preliminary total of $8,416.25.

Early Super Bowl Sunday, I had the pleasure of speaking with Rockdale’s own Super Bowl Eagle, Le’Raven Clark. This Super Bowl is Le’Raven’s first.

United Way needs your help in 2025

United Way of South Milam County has fallen very short of its goal of $60,000 to $70,000 for the September 2024 Radiothon. The organization only received about $20,000 to disperse between 13 and 17 local non-profits that were seeking approximately $65,000 in funding for the current year.

Soul food recipes

Kyle’s Kitchen Since February is Black History Month, let's cook some soul food this week. But don’t worry, these recipes aren't mine. I found them all on websites run by Black people. Mom's side of the family never made greens of any kind, so mom never learned how to make them.
