Rockdale Police Officer made one felony arrest during the past week: • Cedric Cassel Mitchell, 46, Rockdale, was arrested by Ofc. Lentz for evading arrest detention, evading arrest detention with vehicle and criminal mischief ($100 to $750).

The MARC Center needs to replace its 12-year-old van. The Ranch and Friends of the MARC Center are sponsoring a concert to help purchase a new 15-pasenger van on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at The Ranch. The headliner will be Milam County crooner, Brooke Graham.

Budget, tax rate passed

The Rockdale City Council was finally able to pass annual budget during a second reading of the ordinance adopting the budget beginning Oct. 1, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2025, by roll call vote on Monday night. Also passed was the new tax rate of 0.85.

Rockdale High School announces that seniors Layla Barrera, Alvan Liu, Jack Luckey, Macy McDaniel and Jason Ponnaiya have earned national recognition from the College Board for their outstanding academic achievements.

CASA benefit September 14

CASA of Milam County will host its first annual fundraiser, Taste of Milam, from 6-10 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Venue at Railfan featuring food and beverage from Milam County’s best establishments. Entry is $35.
