Rockdale Fair scholarship forms due March 28th

The 2024 Rockdale Fair Scholarship forms are available at all Milam County high school counselor’s offices and at the 4-H County Extension Office. The scholarship forms must be postmarked by March 28.

CHURCH NEWS

Soup suppers will commence during Lent on each Wednesday. Delicious soups and desserts will be served at 6 p.m. followed by evening prayer, drama “Pilate’s Investigation,” and a study conducted by Pastor Welton. All are welcome.

More business interest in Rockdale after SLR announcement

At Monday night’s MDD board meeting, Economic Director Jim Gibson told the board that after SLR announces that they are building a 1,200-megawatt gas plant on their property in Lee County, he has received inquiries from 11 different businesses about possibly locating to Rockdale.

The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), the City of Rockdale, and the Rockdale Municipal Development District (RMDD) announce that the city is the recipient of a Downtown Revitalization Program (DRP) grant.

FISH FRY

The Knights of Columbus started their annual Lenten Friday fish fry dinners last Friday and will offer them through March 22 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. or until sold out. The plates offer fish, homemade fries, beans, hush puppies, their famous coleslaw and all the trimmings for $12.

SOLO WINNERS

On Saturday, several Rockdale High School band members participated in the UIL Region 26/18 band Solo & Ensemble Contest held at Smithville High School.
