The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo horse judging contest was held Feb. 12. The Milam County 4-H members maroon team took second place in the junior division out of 48 teams. We appreciate the work of our coaches of these 4- H kids, Lyndi Sanders and Cassie Callahan.

What does worship mean to you? For many in Western churches today, that word tends to have various meanings. We all take it to mean what we do on Sunday mornings.

I’m mad at both my mother and father today (not really). I’m reminded today that it’s been a year since my heart attack (thanks to genetics I got from my dad) and I just got back from the dentist and found out my receding gum problem is probably inherited from her.

CHURCH NEWS

Soup suppers will commence during Lent starting on Feb. 21, on each Wednesday. Delicious soups and desserts will be served at 6 p.m. followed by evening prayer, drama “Pilate’s Investigation,” and a study conducted by Pastor Welton. All are welcome.

SLR plans 1,200-mw gas plant

Sandow Lakes Energy Co. LLC a nnounced its plans to pursue the construction of a 1,200-megawatt, ultra-efficient, natural gas-fueled power plant. The plant, located on Sandow Lakes property in Lee County, will be developed and owned by a Sandow Lakes Energy Co.

RARE HONOR

Destinee Bluford earned a spot in the ATSSB All-State Band, one of only eight RHS students to do so since 1981. She performed on Saturday morning at the Lila Cockrell Theater in San Antonio.

St. John’s United Methodist Church will hold their annual chili supper on Thursday, Feb. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Tickets are $13 and are available at the door and includes chili, cornbread, dessert of your choice and a drink and can be taken home or eaten there.
