St. Paul’s Chili Supper set for November 8th

The 39th annual St. Paul Chili Supper will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Thorndale Fireman’s Hall. The proceeds from this year’s event will support repairs and upgrades to classrooms, restrooms and the grade school playground.

Joe’s Italian Restaurant joined the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and a ribbon cutting was held last Thursday.

Economic Development Strategic Plan/reducing investment risk

The Rockdale Municipal Development District (RMDD) recently approved an updated economic development strategic plan. The first version of this plan was adopted in 2012, right before the closure of the Luminant power plants.

ORGANIZATIONS

Rockdale Rotary Club meets the first, third and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is provided. Rockdale Noon Lion’s Club also meets at RVFD on the first and third Wednesday of each month with lunch provided.

Rockdale Police officers made two felony arrests during the past week: • A ndrew Richa rd Burke, 54, Rockdale, was arrested for DWI third or more. He was booked in but then released to AMR.

Responded to: • The 6700 block of South FM 908 for a vehicle vs. deer accident with vehicle in the middle of the roadway on Tuesday. • The 600 block of West Bell Street for a lift assist on Saturday.
