Voters pick Whitmire, Payne, Denman

To make a case for “every vote counts” Milam County voters chose Bill Whitmire for County Judge by only 146 votes over incumbent Steve Young on Tuesday night. Whitmire’s percentage was 51.75 to Young’s 48.25.

As I wrap up this year’s Black History segment on Health and Wellness, I thought about the numerous topics that could be beneficial to not only black Americans, but the public in general.

VFD annual fundraiser tickets on sale

The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual fundraiser at the KC Hall on April 23 from 5 p.m. to midnight. A meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. Ticket sales began on Feb. 14 and are $150 per couple.

RPD makes three felony arrests

Rockdale Police Officers made three felony arrests during the past week including: • Mariella Gonzales, 21, Manor, was arrested by Sgt.

FIRE CALLS

Rockdale VFD Responded to: • 210 Wood Road on Tuesday for a possible gas leak. • US 77 and 79 for traffic control on Wednesday for a vehicle pulling two vehicles which hydroplaned due to ice on the bridge which caused a traffic jam.
