COVID cases move higher

The county found three new PCR cases and was able to discharge 13 PCR cases, but there are 31 new probable cases and with no discharged probable cases for a net increase of 21 positive cases. The active Milam County case count is now at 140, which is the highest it has been since mid-January.

Ruck and Ride on Saturday

At Saturday’s Ruck and Ride there will be events to honor Milam County Fallen Heroes and their families. There will be a ruck/walk for eight miles at 9 a.m. starting at the Cameron Fire Station and heading to Denio’s Furniture along the 2nd Lt. Darryn Dean Andrews Memorial Highway. Then at 10 a.m.

Rockdale officers respond to wrecks

Two wrecks were reported over the past week in Rockdale. Friday there was a two-vehicle wreck on Cameron Ave. in front of Walmart with no injuries reported. The wreck happened at around 7:55 p.m. On Monday there was another two-vehicle accident on Wilcox with no injuries reported.

FIRE CALLS

• Friday, 12:54 p.m., Rockdale VFD responded to East US 79 four-wheeler on fire. • Friday, 8:04 p.m., Rockdale VFD responded to W. Cameron Ave. in front of Walmart to clear road debris due to two-vehicle accident. • Saturday, 9:31 a.m. Milano VFD responded to 709 US 79 for a one-vehicle rollover.

MILAM COUNTY JAIL LOG

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

Texas Senate back in session while House is still missing quorum

Aug. 3, just one day after the first session ended, the second called session of the 87th Legislature began. Opponents to a controversial elections bill were able to halt consideration of all issues before the Legislature in July by leaving the Capitol and denying the House a quorum.
