Last arrest made from burglaries, RYBA incident

Rockdale police made the final arrest Friday from a series of incidents which included an incident in which a Rockdale Youth Baseball Association building was vandalized last month.

Two accidents, one injury on South Milam roads

State troopers investigated a pair of accidents on South Milam County roadways during the past week, one involving an injury. According to the Department of Public Safety (DPS), a vehicle operated by Luis Rodriguez, 24, of Thorndale left FM 486 near County road 461 about 10 a.m. Saturday.

Fire calls dispatched from the Rockdale Police Department during the past week included: • 2:24 p.m. July 14, Gause, Milano, Cameron and Hearne VFDs responded to large grass fire on both sides of 300 block of CR 357A. 9:06 p.m. July 14, Gause VFD called back to CR 357A for rekindle. • 3:37 p.m.

I often say I’m an old, tired and cynical pastor. Really old people tell me that I’m not old which makes me think the other adjectives must describe me. Yikes. I was, however, encouraged the other day on Twitter.

I have the best family and friends! Saturday was my birthday and they went all out for me. We had a delicious meal and I got so many nice gifts! Can’t beat that. Wanda and Al Coats, Sherri and James Rasco drove to Lubbock for Alfred’s nephew’s funeral. That’s a long trip!

Pre-K virtual event set for August 3rd

Milano ISD has changed its Pre-Kindergarten Round-up to a virtual event rather than in-person. Parents of children turning 4 by or on Sept. 1 have their first opportunity to learn more about Pre-K for the 2020-21 on Aug. 3. This will all be done via a Zoom meeting.
