County holds second eco-dev summit

CAMERON—Over 100 persons came to the Williams Civic Center in Cameron Tuesday for the second of four Milam County Economic Development Summits.

Eighteen sentenced in district court

CAMERON—Eighteen persons were sentenced recently in 20th District Court, according to Prosecutor Bill Torrey, who listed case dispositions, on guilty pleas, as follows: • Quentel Antwain Westbrook, 26, Cameron, five-year prison term, aggravated assault with deadly weapon. • Larry Sundance Young Jr.

Sentencing set Friday for murder defendant CAMERON—The second sentencing for a murder defendant in the Emily Hacker case is scheduled for Friday in 20th District Court. Edward Brannon Barry, 32, of Caldwell is one of four defendants charged with the murder of Hacker, 34, on Jan.

Traffic stop nets arrest

A 52-year-old Cameron woman was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and marijuana Thursday after a traffic stop, and vehicle search, in Rockdale. Karrie Lee Weatherford was released after posting $8,000 bond. ACCIDENTS—One accident was reported in the past week inside the city limits.

Missing person search called off

For just over a day law enforcement officers in Milam County and the Texas Panhandle thought a missing Lubbock-area man might have come to the Gause area and died. But the search for 79-year-old Celestino Rodriguez of Slayton was called off Thursday afternoon.

Fire calls, in addition to Monday’s multi-origin grass fires off FM 908, dispatched from the Rockdale Police Department were listed as follows: • 9:52 a.m. Aug. 6, water implement making loud noise, 2400 block of CR 305, Rockdale VFD investigated and found no danger. • 11:25 p.m.

RHS grad completes basic

SAN ANTONIO—U.S. Air Force Airman Autumn S. Montelongo recently graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program.
