This Friday, April 18 is the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Fair Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to the Easter Egg Hun, there will be photos with the Easter Bunny, face painting, bounce houses and lots to eat and drink.

Jubilee Days winners announced

Jubilee Days was a big hit in Rockdale this week at Fair Park with lots of family fun, music and the popular Moore’s Greater Shows Carnival from Lyford. Musical guests were Crossroads Band on Friday night and Billy Holt on Saturday.

Suicide closes US 79 Thursday

Milam County Sheriff's Office responded to a mental health crisis call in the 3000 block of CR 322 last Thursday for a possible suicidal subject with a firearm. Units arriving saw a white GMC truck driven by Arvin Jones leave the premises and so they turned around to follow.

Council forum Tuesday night

The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Rockdale Downtown Association (RDA), will hold a City Council Candidate Forum at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the Patterson Center.

NEW THORNDALE HIGH SCHOOL

Thorndale ISD held a pep rally-style groundbreaking ceremony for its new high school east of the football field on Friday. According to superintendent Zack Kleypas work will begin immediately and the class of 2027, who are currently sophomores, will be the first to graduate from the new school.

Milam County Radio Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Odd number months, the club meeting is at Banda’s Mexican Restaurant. Even number months the club meets at Dairy Queen in Cameron. Club members begin arriving at 6:30 p.m. For questions email Nobles at jvnobles2@outlook.

Rockdale Police respond to two-vehicle accident

Ofc. Wachtel responded to a two-vehicle accident near the intersection on Mill and Wilcox Streets on April 12 at 3:05 p.m. Calls for Service Rockdale Police Officers responded to 259 total calls for service during the past week including 77 calls for 911 emergency service.
