3 die in north Milam wrecks

Three people died in two separate accidents during a five-day period last week as the deadly year of 2018 claimed its 13th, 14th and 15th victims on Milam roads. Both accidents were in northern Milam County and two of the fatalities were Cameron residents.

‘Early out’ at campus due to city water break Rockdale Elementary School students got an unexpected “early release” Tuesday as an adjacent city water main broke. Water was disconnected while repairs were made. First Friday coffee set for library at 8:30 a.m.

Officer chases down suspect

A chase involving a Rock-dale Police officer resulted in the arrest of a local man last week. Lt. Stephen Goodrich said a “suspicious person” call sent Ofc. Joah McCaleb to a location outside Rockdale Elementary School.

New rules ban commercial harvest of four turtle species

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission voted to prohibit the commercial collection of four species of freshwater turtles in Texas—the common snapping turtle, red-eared slider, smooth soft-shell and spiny softshell.

Senior citizens fundraiser, MS rally set for Saturday

MILANO NEWS The Milano Senior Citizens annual fundraiser is set for 7:30 pm. Sept. 8 at the Milano Civic Center. The Family Sowell Pickers will be playing bluegrass and gospel music. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and $17.50 for a family.
