Alcoa Retirees to meet Thursday in Thorndale Rockdale Alcoa Retirees will meet Thursday, Sept. 13 in the Thorndale VFW Hall, next door to the Thorndale Fireman’s Hall on FM 486 North, according to Doug Williams, spokesman. Doors will open at 5 p.m.

Deputy arrested in connection with traffic death

A Milam County Deputy Sheriff, involved in a May 2 collision in Cameron which took the life of a Cameron pastor and community leader, was arrested Thursday. Michael Dean Heath, 42, of Temple, was charged with criminal negligent homicide. He was released after posting $15,000 bond.

County okays 3-cent hike

CAMERON—Meeting in regular session Monday in the county courthouse Milam County Commissioners approved a 3-cent tax increase. The vote, in a series of motions was 4-1. Precinct Commissioner Donald Shuffield voted against, citing the 3-cent increase as his reason. The new rate reflects 67.

PRESERVING THE PAST

—The 19th Century stained glass window, preserved from the Dr. Rob Wallis house in March, 2017, has been fully restored and was moved to the city library last week.
