Music festival, Kay run ahead Oct. 6th

The first annual Rock-dale Fall Music Festival set in downtown Oct. 6, kicks off with the annual Kay Theatre Run, which has a Halloween theme this year.

Four treated after area accidents

Four persons were treated after Rockdale-area traffic accidents over the past week, according to the Department of Public Safety. Milano volunteer firefighters, an AMR ambulance crew and the Milam County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle collision at US 79 and CR 329 at 10:09 p.m.

Police hope final arrests made for counterfeit bills

POLICE REPORT Rockdale Police are hoping a pair of arrests made last week have put an end to a rash of counterfeit bill sightings around town. Zachary Alan Christensen, 17, and a 14-year-old male were arrested last Wednesday and Thursday and charged with forgery by passing.

Here is the jail log for Sept. 11-17 from the Milam County Sheriff’s Department. Jail logs list all persons charged with offenses through the county jail docket. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

Cameron police seek info on shooting

SHERIFF’S REPORT Area law enforcement agencies are asking for the public’s assistance after a Calvert man was shot on Thursday in Cameron. Cameron police officers responded to the 1600 block of North Crockett Avenue around 2:30 p.m.

Radiothon

The annual South Milam County United Way Radiothon netted $1,180 Thursday morning at Lee’s Landing. UW volunteers worked the phones as the event was carried live over KRXTFM. Those participating included (L-R) Gaye Bland, Charlie McGregor and Elissa Benford-Roberts.
