It was actually dusk Friday evening when hundreds began to file through the new Tiger Stadium but the concept was the same. The open house, on Rockdale’s open date, marks the beginning of a new era, not only for RHS sports but for the community.
Sheriff Chris White has warned Milam County residents of an active phone scam from a person claiming to be a deputy sheriff.
White said a Milam resident reported a call from an individual who said the intended victim had failed to show up for Judge Dave Barkemeyer’s Milam County Court session.
A NIGHT FOR CHAMPIONS—Over 170 people packed the Patterson Civic Center last Wednesday for a banquet honoring the Rockdale Tiger football program and held by Rockdale Masonic Lodge 414, AF & AM. The banquet honored not only last year’s state champion Tigers but also this year’s team.
Two persons were injured in separate Rockdale-area rural road accidents during the past week.
State Trooper Josh Hendricks said a motorcycle operated by Robby Rundell, 47, of Rockdale, collided with a deer at 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Cypress Trail Road southwest of Rockdale.

Tuesday program
The Texas A&M Agri-Life Extension Service, and the Rockdale ISD, are partnering to host an Alcohol & Drug Trends Awareness program at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Rockdale Intermediate School cafeteria.
October will be a busy month at the city library with programs scheduled for three of the month’s four Thursdays.
And the annual “lock-in,” held in connection with the Genealogy Center of the Waco-McLennan County Library is set for a Friday.
