City, county still ‘in the red’

After an improvement in October, the City of Rock-dale and Milam County are back “in the red” on sales tax receipts. The Rockdale Municipal Development District, however, posted gains both for the month and year-to-date. State Comptroller Glenn Hegar disbursed October sales tax checks last week.

4-Hers place at major shows

Milam County 4-H Plant Identification teams competed at the State Fair of Texas and placed very high as follows: First-place senior team, Mason Lindig, Heath Hollas, Kaylee Jackson, Rebecca Kostroun.

Rose sale set for Saturday at Chamber Little River Basin Master Gardeners Association’s (LRBMGA) Fall Rose sale is set for Saturday, in Rockdale and Cameron, according to Jennifer Lazarow, marketing committee member. Roses will be sold at two locations, the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce from 9 a.m.

Miss Texas 2018 is no dummy, but she works with a couple. of them. Madison Fuller, who will emcee the Miss Rockdale Fair Queen Pageant Saturday is a ventriloquist. This 43nd Fair is again a “week long” one.

The Rockdale City Council combined two of its most controversial issues in recent years—annexation and a tract originally purchased for use as a police station site but never used—Monday in a tame, two minute public hearing. Nobody spoke.
