Busy month of programs at city library

The busy month of October is off and running at Rockdale’s Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library. A large come-and-go crowd gathered on Friday for the monthly First Friday mixer, sponsored this time around by Rockdale PAWS (Pet Adoption Welfare Services).

Reception Oct. 17 for marketing director The City of Rockdale will host a meet and greet reception for Cassie “Caz” Muske, its new marketing director on Wednesday, Oct. 17. The meet and greet is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Community Room, 107 North Main Street.

New floor okayed

CAMERON—Milam County Commissioners on Tuesday approved contracts totaling $47,428 for new floor for the County Clerk’s offi ce. The project also included asbestos abatement. Contractors are Dorner Construction, Austin Environmental and AAR Inc.

Tattoo situation brings charges against woman

A 24-year-old Rockdale woman turned herself in Sunday to face charges over what police said was an illegal tattoo. Lt. Stephen Goodrich said police obtained a warrant after alleging a 13-year-old female had been tattooed.

Here is the jail log for Oct. 2-8 from the Milam County Sheriff’s Department. Jail logs list all persons charged with offenses through the county jail docket. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

Fire calls for South Milam County volunteer fire departments dispatched from the Rockdale Police Department during the past week were listed as follows: • 4:48 a.m. Oct. 2, Milano VFD dispatched to small grass fire by a stopped train on railroad tracks one mile west of Milano off US 79.
