Editorial ‘nailed it’ on lack of after-hours care

Dear editor, Mike Brown’s editorial in last week’s Rockdale Reporter “Our turn when?” echoes my sentiments, and probably the rest of Milam County’s residents, exactly. Cameron will be the only one to benefit or use those facilities for “after-hour care.

I was really having a nice Monday last week. I was in a very good mood. So not a typical Monday at all. Or maybe just a particularly good Monday. At any rate, that night I was sitting outside in my chair when I got pooped on by a bird.

There is no good reason not to wear a mask

When you get out in public, there are two types of people; those wearing a face mask and those who are not. There are those who scoff at the idea of wearing a mask and compare the COVID virus to the flu. There are those who claim that wearing a mask is somehow more harmful than not wearing a mask.

Our turn when?

We are thrilled that Cameron is well on the way toward getting two new medical facilities which will establish much-needed “after hours” care for Milam County residents.

Appreciates column from former pastor Dear editor, Keep up the good work. People here are always asking me “where is Rockdale? I’ve never heard of it.” So I pass the paper around when I am done with it, so they find out about our peaceful little town. Thanks a lot.

Play your part in getting rid of this virus

I hope Judge Young’s mask order works because I am so very tired of COVID-19. Sometimes I feel like my life is on hold. And it’s been on hold for far longer than I ever thought it would be.

A giant leap forward for Milam County

This week the Milam County Commissioners Court took historical action to go forward with the acquisition of the former Little River Hospital complex. The county will trade nine buildings it owns in downtown Cameron for the 8.5-acre complex.

Looking back...

100 YEARS AGO.... Special showings of “Vive La France” and “Fatty and the Broadway Stars,” the latter starring the popular Fatty Arbuckle were scheduled at the Dixie Theater to benefit the new Rockdale Band.
