Chicken-y goodness for too-hot weather

What do you like to m/v Put in your chick-f Y en salad? I’ve been craving it lately because it’s too hot to eat very many hot, heavy meals. I usually add chicken, red grapes, celery, green onions, mayonnaise, black pepper and some kind of seasoning like seasoned salt or garlic salt.

Wanda and Alfred Coats have a new great-grandson born July 26 to Trey and Melanie Coats in Houston. Ray and Paula Coats are grandparents. Gause ISD teachers have started school. Students will begin classes Thursday, Aug. 13.

ORGANIZATIONS

Murray Cemetery Assoc. annual meeting canceled The Murray Cemetery Association’s annual meeting which is normally scheduled for the third Saturday in September is canceled this year due to COVID-19 concerns, according to Pam Warren, spokesperson.

Milam 4-H facing another challenging year

This year has been challenging for 4-H with the COVID-19 situation. We will be working with club managers to publicize 4-H meetings this year on 4-H Blasts, 4-H Facebook and on the website. We do not know the meeting dates as of now or if they will be face to face or virtual.

The first Reporter stories on the COVID-19 Pandemic were in early March. One reported that schools would be out until “at least March 23” and added the qualifier “Count on it being longer, perhaps much longer.” Little did we know then, huh?

Some craziness about growing corn here

I made a trip to Taylor the other day by myself. My sister-in-law, Noelia, is usually with me whenever I go anywhere outside of Rockdale, but because she and I weren’t talking and laughing on this particular trip I noticed something. There are fields and fields full of dead corn everywhere.

Free rapid testing coming to Milam County

Clearly, we need more testing for the COVID-19 virus. In fact, what we really need is rapid same day results testing. What we see over and over is the receipt of test results a week or so later after the test.
