Two events Saturday support Thorndale Cares

Two Thorndale events on Saturday, Nov. 9, will raise money for Thorndale Cares as well as collecting canned goods. The day starts off with a Walk and Run of Love from 10 a.m. to noon. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 105 E. Church St. Big Auntie’s Sweet Potato pies will be auctioned off to raise funds.

The Thursday Reading Club was sponsor of November’s First Friday Coffee at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library last week. Club members in attendance are (L-R) Lynn Young, Ann King, Wendie Upson, Gloria Walker, Peggy Cooke and Joan Ratliff.

Future growth will shift tax burden

Everyone should soon get their annual property tax bills in the mail. We can all be sad and angry at the same time together. Is there anything that can be done to provide some relief? The answer is yes, but that is more of a political question to be addressed by the state.

MARC consumers and board members enjoyed their annual Halloween party at the Kay Theater last Thursday. The East Bell Taphouse donated chicken wings and fries, and board members added salad and drinks.

RHS teacher arrested Friday

Rockdale High School teacher Michael Smith, 40, Caldwell, was arrested on Friday for making a threat on a school web page associated with the school anonymously.
