CDC to visit Milam Health Department

A Center for Disease Control (CDC) team with expertise in human-centered design and epidemiology will visit the Milam County Health Department on Tuesday May 7.

Truck pursuit ends in Rockdale with subject Levis in custody

A pursuit that began in Lee County ended in Milam County with one person in custody. The Milam County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, about a pursuit of a stolen box truck that was heading toward Milam County.

Young entrepreneur program starts Saturday at Community Market

Area youth are invited to open for business to sell their goods and services at Rockdale’s Community Market from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 4 as part of the weekly community market. May is the US Chamber of Commerce Small Business Month.

New principal at Rockdale IS

RISD announced last week that Monica Elizondo is the new Intermediate School Principal for the 2024-25 school year. She t a k e s over the position previously held by by Cheyenne Babb.

Matinee Musical Club is the host of May’s First Friday Coffee at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library this Friday, May 5. The coffee runs from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and all are welcome.

There’s a new shop in town at Street Ministries at 225 N. Main St. The shop is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and sells a variety of Christian- themed merchandise.

REUNIONS

The Appelt Family will be celebrating their 60th reunion on Sunday, June 2 at Applet's Hill Hall in Halletsville. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon. A meal of stew, sausage and side dishes will be provided as well as cold drinks.
