The graduating class is about to embark upon Senior Trip. A long held tradition at the high school. Small, rural schools, like Milano, have lots of traditions. When our state legislators talk about consolidating these schools, it baffles me. Of course, lawmakers do many bewildering things.

Rockdale Independent School District held its annual Recognition and Retirement Reception for years of service and district awards last Tuesday in the Junior High Commons. Teachers of the Year were Taylor Grayson, RIS; Lauren. Williams, RES; Lisa Debault, RHS; and Lisa Laneer, RJH.

GARDEN TOUR— Rockdale Earth Day’s Saturday Home Garden Tour showcased three properties — 417 E. Bell Ave., 437 San Gabriel St. and 2105 Sager. Attendees enjoyed seeing the gardens and refreshments at each location. The tour raised $460 and all proceeds went to the Rockdale ISD Education Foundation. Pool to open on May 23rd

The City of Rockdale announced Veteran’s Park Pool will open for the 2026 summer season on Saturday, May 23. The pool will operate Tuesday through Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. through Labor Day.
