City closes on $12 million public improvement district bonds

The City of Rockdale closed and received over $12 million in Public Improvement District (PID) bonds in connection with the Cornerstone subdivision on Dec. 17. “The City Council and staff have worked very hard to make this happen,” said Rockdale Mayor Brett Boren.

Work begins on water pipe replacement

It has taken the City of Rockdale a while to get all the legal details finished, but at long last the massive cast iron water pipe replacement project began in earnest on Monday.

Oney Toy Run Saturday at The Ranch

Milam County’s first responders were shown some love last week with free coffee on two separate days at two different businesses. Above, Main Street Bookshop offered coffee and snacks to these hard workers and, below, The Shoppes at Moon River did the same thing the following day.

First Friday Coffee given by The Kay The Kay Theater Foundation will host this Friday’s coffee at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library. The event starts at 9 and runs to 10:30 a.m. All are welcome. Christmas at the Kay 3 p.m.

Rockdale Rotary Club meets the first, third and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is provided. Rockdale Noon Lions Club also meets at RVFD on the first and third Wednesday of each month with lunch provided.

Af ter Thanksgiv ing everyone in my family wants a hamburger after all that turkey, so we’ll be talking about beef recipes this week. Normally we have a rib roast at Christmas, but I remember one year Dad grilled us all ribeyes and I think I remember that Christmas dinner more than the rib roast.
