Sheriff Mike Clore and the Milam County Sheriff’s Office is kicked off their 14th annual Brown Santa program last week and the organization is taking applications for citizens in the county who may benefit from the program. Brown Santa is for children ages two to 12 only.

Rockdale PD makes two felony arrests, responds to one traffic accident

Rockdale Police Officers made two felony arrests during the past seven days including: • Maria Young, 65, Rockdale, was arrested on Tuesday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. • Ray Anthony Taylor, 32, Rockdale, was arrested on Thursday for continuous violence against the family.

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

Responded to: • 810 Ackerman for a downed telephone line on Tuesday. • The 300 block of South FM 908 to extinguish a controlled burn that is located inside the city limits with no one watching it on Wednesday. There was no water source.

At Monday night’s city council meeting a resolution on Hispanic Heritage Month was read by mayor pro tem Lin Perry. Councilwoman Esmeralda Ruelas-Olivares was unable to be at the meeting, so her husband Jose Olivares, and two sons Matteo and Luke represented her for the occasion.
