Matinee Musical Club meets at Gest home

The Matinee Musical Club of Rockdale met at the home of Marie Gest with Lisa Loewe as co-host. The collect was read and the song of the month, “A Beautiful Life” by William Golden, was sung, accompanied by Lisa Loewe. Loewe read the poem of the month, “Speak Gently” by David Bates.

Library to host genealogy lock-in

Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library and the Milam County Genealogical Society will present the 22nd Annual Genealogy Lock-In on Friday, Oct. 20. The day-long event will feature experts in their fields to discuss all facets of genealogy research, organizing, checking official records and more.

Fall break and the Fair

Fall Break and Fair Week have been fabulous! Congratulations to all the students that participated in the Fair. CROSS COUNTRY— Milano Cross Country runners will be participating in the regional competition in Corpus Christi Monday and Tuesday. Good luck runners!

Delicious, somewhat healthy recipes for this cooler weather

Kyle’s Kitchen Imay have posted this before, but it’s so good on a cold day and it’s a full meal. This recipe calls for bacon, but I’ve made it with jalapeno sausage, leftover brisket and ham.

ORGANIZATIONS

Rockdale Rotary Club meets the first, third and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is provided. Rockdale Noon Lion’s Club also meets at RVFD on the first and third Wednesday of each month with lunch provided.

REUNIONS

RHS Class of 1993 to host 30th reunion A 30th Reunion for the Rockdale High School Class of 1993 will be held Saturday, Oct. 28. The reunion will include a 4 p.m. tour of the high school, 500 Childress, and a 5 p.m. gathering at the East Bell Taphouse, 101 E. Bell Ave.
