The City of Rockdale announces the impending transformation of the once-undeveloped Rockdale Industrial Park into a vibrant residential community, known as the Cornerstone Development.

Juneteenth parade, BBQ on Saturday

Rockdale’s Juneteenth Homecoming celebration will be held on Saturday, June 17, and the whole city is invited, according to organizer Henry Miller. The parade will start at the old McVoy’s store at 10 a.m.

MARC Ride raises over $56,000

The annual MARC Ride put on by The Bad to the Bone Riders raised over $56,000 to support the MARC for another year. The Bad to the Bone Riders organization provides the largest amount of money to run the center.

89th Homecoming a big hit Sunday

McVoy Grocery and Feed and the McVoy family were feted at Rockdale’s 89th annual Homecoming Celebration held at the Patterson Civic Center on Sunday. A few of the original Regeneration Singers made a second appearance and sang “God Bless America” and the Rockdale High School song.

Are you interested in aviation? Kent Givens and Jimmy Cox will hold get-togethers on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. throughout the summer for both adults and kids. “We’ll talk about airplanes and maybe even go flying,” Givens said.

Historical Society meets second Tuesday The Rockdale Historical Society holds their meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at the depot. “Please come to the depot to see and hear what interesting and exciting things are going on,” volunteer Pat Watson said. All are welcome.

Summer hours for MHS weight room announced

The high school weight room is open for girls at 11 a.m on Tuesdays and Thursdays in June. The weight room is open for boys 8:30 to 10 a.m. Mondays- Thursdays. SUMMER HOURS— MISD summer hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday- Thursday. JULY 4TH— The Milano July 4th Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

RPD makes 3 felony arrests, responds to two-vehicle accident

Rockdale Police Officers made three felony arrests during the past week including: • A llen Dean Terr y Bayer, 34, Rockdale, was arrested pm Tuesday by Ofc. Puente for evading arrest detention with motor vehicle.

Responded to: • 5452 South FM 908 for a grass fire on Wednesday. • 10308 North FM 487 along with AMR and the Milam County Sheriff’s Office for a one vehicle accident. • FM 487 just south of FM 1712 for a motorcycle accident along with AMR and the Milam County Sheriff’s Office on Friday.
