Alcoa retirees to meet June 9 in Thorndale Rockdale Alcoa Retirees will hold a meeting on Thursday, June 9 at 5 p.m. at the Thorndale Veteran’s Memorial Hall. The business meeting begins at 5:45 and then the election for officers. Meals will be $15.

Memorial Day

What is Memorial Day? First, a little history behind it. On May 5, 1868, Maj. Gen. John A. Logan declared that May 30th will be celebrated as Decoration Day. This was set up as a day for Americans to decorate the graves of our war dead.

100 YEARS AGO… Miss Flora Sharp graciously entertained the Matinee Musical Club with a beautiful springtime party. A splendid musical program was well rendered. In the musical game played, Miss Louise Hale was awarded two handmade handkerchiefs.

Curbside Bulk Waste Pick Up Event Wednesday, July 15

The City of Rockdale will host a Curbside Bulk Waste Pick Up Event on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Residents must sign up no later than Friday, July 1st at 4 PM to be added to the list.

Library hosts Dr. Pruett on June 3rd
