Downtown Rockdale was alive with people enjoying the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce’s Winter Wonderland festivities including the annual lighted Christmas Parade on Saturday evening. Above right, Santa and Mayor Ward Roddam led the parade on top of a flashing firetruck from the Rockdale VFD.

The annual welding series competition sponsored by Perry & Perry Builders drew 392 students from 27 schools to the competition held at the S.W.A.T. Building on Nov. 19.

‘Christmas at the Kay’ set for 3 p.m. Sunday

“Christmas at the Kay,” Rockdale’s annual musical highlight, will be presented at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, with added performers in addition to the always-popular Communities in Concert Band, directed by trumpeter Lee “Sparky” Thomason, and the Rising Star Baptist Church Praise Team.

Oney Toy Run this Saturday

The 20th annual Buddy Oney Toy Run will be held on Saturday at The Ranch which benefits Milam County’s less fortunate children and families. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Fees are $20 per rider or $25 with passenger or a new toy valued at $25. The first bike to leave will be at 11 a.m.
