The good news is TxDOT contractors have resumed work along US 79.
The bad news, for now, is the work isn’t downtown, but it is coming, officials said.
“We are working as fast as we can with TxDOT to get this approved and underway,” said Rockdale City Manager Barbara Holly earlier this week.

After a long layoff, the Rockdale Park Board met in City Council chambers July 15 and authorized member Michelle Larkin to seek grants to apply for which would help pay for some of the things the board would like to see done at the city’s parks.

The Sanford and Lucy Caffey family reunion for friends and relatives will be held at Patterson Center adjacent to Fair Park on July 24 beginning at 10: a.m.
A pot luck lunch will be served at noon with drinks, plates and utensils furnished.
The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce is holding a farmers’ market on the grounds of the historic Coffield Stone Tree House at 1203 W Cameron. The market is held each Saturday from now until the end of October.
The hours are 8 a.m. to noon.
Rockdale Earth Day is looking for yards in the community, to consider for “Yard of the Month.” The program will run through September.
