I’m another year older. I celebrated my 80th birthday on Sunday with family and friends who are like family. I know I can’t do some of the things I did at an earlier age, but I don’t care. If it is something that I need done, I just ask for help and always get it.

Girl Scouts like (L-R) Isabella Owens, Cassidy Crowe and Maryetta Owens cleaned up the grounds of area cemeteries over the summer, one of their 100 acts of service in Milam County.

Caffey Reunion July 24 at Patterson Center

The Sanford and Lucy Caffey family reunion for friends and relatives will be held at Patterson Center adjacent to Fair Park on Saturday, July 24 at 10:00 am. A pot luck lunch will be served at noon with drinks, plates and utensils furnished.

Milam County Girl Scouts acts of service

Girl Scouts of Central Texas (GSCTX) will celebrate their centennial, the 100th anniversary of the first Girl Scout troop formed in our area in 1921. “As part of our centennial celebration, Milam County Girl Scouts has chosen to perform service in Milam County.

AA meeting weekly at Crossroads Church

Rockdale Peace Seekers AA meetings are at Crossroads Bible Church, 811 Burleson St. The meetings are scheduled on Tuesdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.

Groundwater summit names panelists

One of the panels of speakers for the seventh annual Milam and Burleson Counties Groundwater Summit will have Steve Young and Stephanie Moore, both of Intera, comparing the projected and actual impacts of pumping on the aquifers by Vista Ridge.
