Student helping upgrade high school weight room

Emilee Baker, junior softball player at Thorndale High School, has opened a Snap account to raise money for a weight room at the high school for Bulldogs athletes. Her goal is to raise $800 toward the cost to properly outfit a weight room and replace outdated equipment.

RVFD fundraiser tickets now on sale

Tickets for the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department’s annual fund raising night at the KC Hall are now on sale, according to spokesman Mike Korenek. The fundraiser is set for May 15. Donors can get on the list by calling Korenek at 512-430-2315 or James McQuinn at 512-577-5715.

Street Ministries offering free classes

Fundraising sale

The Milano Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary held a huge garage sale Thursday, Friday and Saturday with all the proceeds going to help fund the firefighters. The shoppers picked up some good buys choosing from kitchenware, furniture, sports equipment, lawn care products, toys and other items.

‘Nunsense’ auditions are later this month

Milam Community Theater will hold auditions for the musical “Nunsense” at 7 p.m. on May 24 and 25. Auditions for the musical will be held at the Williams Event Center in Cameron.

Farmers’ Market now every Saturday morning

The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce is holding a farmers’ market on the grounds of the of the historic Coffield Stone Tree House at 1203 W. Cameron. The market is held each Saturday from now until the end of October. The hours are 8 a.m. to noon.
