Filing moving at snail pace for local offices

With the filing deadline Feb. 12., candidates have been slow to get to the starting gate. The election is May 1. So far only five candidates have announced their intentions for office and four of those are in Milano. In the Milano City Council race four incumbents have filed to reclaim their seats.

State sales taxes totaled $3.1 billion in January

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar today said state sales tax revenue totaled $3.07 billion in January, 0.3 percent less than in January 2020. The majority of January sales tax revenue is based on sales made in December and remitted to the agency in January.

ROCKDALE POLICE REPORT

Officer Jeremiah Harden had to arrest Jacob Julius Mitchell, 35, of Rockdale on Tuesday on a Milam County warrant for bond forfeiture/prohibited substance in a correctional facility and another warrant for bail jumping/failure to appear.
